Last year there was a magnitude of changes to tracks which were raced on in Formula One which, for some reason, were not replicated in the F1 2021 video game. Now though, in the upcoming F1 22 game, the updates have been implemented.
The likes of Australia, Spain and Abu Dhabi received the largest updates with Codemasters having remodelled the in-game track layout with LIDAR data.
Australia
The updated Albert Park track brings all the real-world updates to the game – with the track layout and barrier updates being replicated to represent the real-world version.
Spain
The Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya has also received quite a big overhaul, similar to that of Albert Park. The new turn 10 has been replicated in the game as well as added rumble strips, kerbs and various run-off zones to represent the real-world version of the track.

Abu Dhabi
The circuit where the dramatic conclusion of the 2021 World Championship took place has now been updated to represent the real-life version of the Yas Marina circuit.
Updates include the removal of the turn 5 hairpin as well as a major overhaul to sector 3 of the track which is a direct replica of the real-world version of the track.
Corners in sector 3 are now smoothened out and widened to allow for cars to follow more closely as well as ensure that the sector does not feel at all cagey like what it felt like on the previous versions of the game.
The changes made will definitely improve player's quality of life when playing the game, the game will feel more immersive and hopefully the improved tracks will be more enjoyable to play on.
