The first practice session of the season has been and gone, and things are certainly looking positive for Ferrari and Red Bull so far.
Pierre Gasly topped the leaderboards on the softest compound of tyres with a 1:34.193, followed closely by the two Ferrari's.
Charles Leclerc set the second fasted time of the day and was just 0.364 seconds off the pace of Gasly despite being on medium tyres.
Carlos Sainz was just half a tenth off his teammate, setting the time on the tyre compound as his teammate.
Red Bull also looked strong in the session as Verstappen set the 5th fasted time of the day on medium compound tyres, while Perez set the 10th fastest time also on the yellow walled tyres.
Verstappen's time was half a second off that of Pierre Gasly, whilst Sergio Perez was 0.8 of a second off the fastest time of the session.
Mercedes however seemed to struggle with overall lap time as, despite setting the 4th and 7th fastest times of the session, both of their fastest laps were set on the softest compound of tyre available to the team.
Mercedes certainly have some work to do, but so far things are looking good for Ferrari and Red Bull.
