Carlos Sainz has reached an agreement with Ferrari which will see him stay with the team until 2024 at least – with his current contract set to expire at the end of 2022.
The Italian media reported on the news and suggests that the deal will be announced before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Talks between both parties have been advanced for a while and the final decision was made after the Australian GP.
Reports suggest that part of the contractual agreement would be that there would be no team orders at Scuderia Ferrari, allowing both drivers to go wheel to wheel under correct circumstances.
The contract is also a clear show of faith in the Spanish driver’s skills - showing that the team has faith in him to deliver in the future.
