Haas F1 has today confirmed that they have cut ties with Russian company and title sponsor, Uralkali and as a result have dropped Nikita Mazepin - who was the one that brought the sponsorship to the team.

The termination of the sponsorship and the contract between Haas and Mazepin has come after a week of conflict between the Russian and Ukrainian military.

Haas F1 announced the decision this morning via a team statement posted onto social media.

Earlier in the week team principle Guenther Steiner was asked how the team would cope without the financial backing of Uralkali - to which the Italian claimed that the team would be fine.

Rumours have emerged in the past week claiming that Haas have their eyes set on F2 and Haas reserve driver Pietro Fitipaldi to replace Mazepin as well as to fill the financial void left by the termination of the Uralkali sponsorship.
