Jude Bellingham, the 19-year-old midfielder, has been one of the most sought-after young players in European football since his move to Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in the summer of 2020. Over the past few months, there have been reports suggesting that Bellingham could leave Dortmund this summer, with Liverpool and Real Madrid said to be among his suitors.

However, recent reports have suggested that Bellingham is likely to remain in Dortmund for another year after Liverpool dropped out of the running and Real Madrid cooled their interest in the player.

The news will come as a relief to Dortmund fans, who have been impressed with Bellingham's performances throughout his tenure so far. The Englishman has been a key player for the club, playing in 127 games in all competitions and scoring 20 goals with 25 further assists.

Bellingham's performances have not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool and Real Madrid both reportedly keen to sign the midfielder this summer. However, it seems that Dortmund have managed to hold onto their prized asset for another year.

Liverpool's decision to drop out of the race for Bellingham could be due to a number of factors. Firstly, the Reds are likely to have other targets on their radar whom they view to be of better value, with the club expected to spend big this summer as they look to improve their squad after a disappointing season. Secondly, Liverpool may have been put off by Dortmund's reported asking price for the player, which is said to be around €120 million. Reports suggest Bellingham's preferred destination would be Liverpool, so Jurgen Klopp's team dropping out from the running will certainly give him something to think about.

For Bellingham, staying at Dortmund for another year could be a smart move. The midfielder has settled well in Germany and has been given regular playing time, something that may not be guaranteed at Real Madrid with such quality already being present in the midfield.

Should Bellingham remain in Germany he will likely sign a new deal making him the club's highest ever paid player, with reports suggesting that a release clause will be added into the contract so he can move next summer for a set figure.
